About Colombo Stores
Adelino Raymundo Colombo's fascination with business began in childhood, while living in the Nova Milano neighborhood in the mountainous region of Farroupilha. Adelino, the third of eight siblings, always accompanied his mother shopping at Seu Manoel's store, and was captivated by the idea of being on the other side of the counter.
During one of her sales trips, the family matriarch witnessed an employee being fired and offered her son's services to replace him immediately. At 17, the boy worked at Seu Manoel's dry and wet cellulose factory. Three years later, the owner opened a branch and passed the management of the new location to a full-time waiter. At the end of 1950, he acquired the hotel and transformed it into Armazém Colombo. At the time, the city still didn't have an electrical store.
Astute, Adelino Colombo diversified the range of products in his store, bringing in refrigerators, blenders, typewriters, and other household appliances from São Paulo and Porto Alegre. These included a radio assembled by his cousin Dyonisio. Nine years later, Adelino joined forces with Dyonisio and opened a new business area dedicated to the sale and technical assistance of household appliances. This is how the company came to be.
