History of Moura Batteries
In 1957, in a town in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, plagued by a lack of resources of all kinds – from water to labor for industry – chemical engineer Edson Mororó Moura, now 76 years old, took on the challenge of producing car batteries in a community where there was only one car. Furthermore, the auto parts sector in the country was just beginning.
In the beginning, a lot of study and research was needed to start producing Moura batteries, which originally took place in the couple's backyard.
The first parts produced were cause for celebration, but the quality was still not ideal. To survive, the entrepreneur had to invest in side businesses. In addition to producing batteries, Edson also started selling some of the product's components and even sold lead shot for hunting rifles.
Area of expertise and distinguishing features
Currently, Moura Batteries equip 50% cars produced in Brazil. Volkswagen, Ford, Renault, Fiat, DaimlerChrysler, and Iveco use Moura batteries as original factory replacement parts.
When it comes to what sets us apart, innovation and adaptation to new technological, economic, production, and management conditions have always been part of Baterias Moura's history, with an annual production of over four million units and a production capacity exceeding 4,000,000.
In the powertrain sector, the brand is considered a leader in Latin America, with its products supplying power to cars, boats, mobile and landline telephony, and logistics companies.
With 50 years of experience in the market, through research, testing and a constant pursuit of technology, Baterias Moura has invested significantly in expanding its range of batteries and production lines to meet the new needs of the automotive market, including the Smart Battery.
For nautical applications, Moura Boat Line launched the Log line with the following products: for diesel-powered vehicles, Log diesel batteries; for traction applications, forklifts and small, medium and large electric machines, Log HDP Premium and Log Monobloco batteries.
