Want to guarantee your benefit?
If you're a Bolsa Família beneficiary, you might be in for a pleasant surprise this month when you check your statement. The amount of up to R$900 is being released in specific cases, thanks to sum of supplementary benefits provided for within the new format of the social program.
The Ministry of Social Development updated its values with a focus on expanding support for families in vulnerable situations, especially those with more children or who meet certain conditions. In this post, you'll learn more. who is eligible, how the amount is calculated and what to do to receive the full amount.
Base value remains the same
The value minimum amount of Bolsa Família is R$$600, as has been the case since the program's reformulation. This is the minimum guaranteed for families that meet the income and CadÚnico registration criteria.
But this value can increase significantly depending on family composition. In other words, the more people in certain program bands, the higher the total amount received.
Additional benefits that make up the R$900
The value of up to R$900 can be reached when the family receives extra benefits, which are added to the principal amount. See what these additional amounts are:
- Early Childhood Benefit: R$150 per child aged 0 to 6 years
- Family Variable Benefit: R$50 per pregnant woman, child or adolescent aged 7 to 18 years
- Variable Benefit for Nursing Mothers: R$50 per family member up to 6 months of age (nursing mother)
- Extraordinary Transition Benefit: amount paid in specific cases to ensure that no one receives less than they received in Auxílio Brasil
These values are cumulative, meaning that if the family has, for example, two children up to 6 years old and two teenagers, it could easily exceed R$800. With an additional newborn, the total could reach R$900.
Practical calculation example
Let's imagine a family with the following composition:
- A mother
- A 4-month-old baby
- A 5 year old child
- A 15-year-old teenager
The calculation would be like this:
- R$600 of the base value
- R$150 for a 5-year-old child
- R$50 for the baby (as a nursing mother)
- R$50 for the teenager
Total: R$850
If there is one more child up to 6 years old or a pregnant woman in the family, the value exceeds R$900.
Who is entitled to these additional amounts?
To receive the extra amounts, the family must:
- Have all your data updated on CadÚnico
- Correctly declare the family composition, with the age of all members
- Have a monthly income per person of up to R$218
- Keep your school attendance, vaccinations and prenatal care (if pregnant) up to date
This information is automatically cross-referenced between the Single Registry and the health and education systems. If there is any inconsistency, the additional benefit may be temporarily suspended.
